Excavation Unit

1

Location

1-x-3 meter grid unit, long axis oriented north-south 2322N 2079E. Just south of the center of the site. Located directly southwest of Structure 111; Structure 109 in the northwest portion of this unit may have been built over the antechamber of Structure 111.

Selection Criteria

Judgmental. This unit was selected in order to test small storage rooms (Structures 108 and 109) located south of the main chamber of the pit structure (Structure 111).

Excavation Strategy

Natural strata.

Unit Ends at

Other. Excavation in this unit terminated at three different surfaces in three different study units. In Nonstructure 304 (the prehistoric ground surface), excavation was terminated at approximately 89.35 m. A 1 m x 0.5 m test window was dug into the south porti
