Goodman Point Pueblo 3-D Models and Video

Valuable New Tools for Research and Education
To better understand Goodman Point Pueblo—and to better communicate our findings to other archaeologists and the general public—Crow Canyon archaeologists have teamed up with an architect and a mapping specialist to create three-dimensional models and an animated video based on the excavations we conducted there.
Architect Dennis Holloway worked with senior research archaeologist Kristin Kuckelman and field archaeologist Grant Coffey to develop three-dimensional models of the entire village of Goodman Point Pueblo. Four of the models are included here, each showing a different perspective of the village (see the links below); one of the models is superimposed on an aerial photograph of the landscape provided by photographer Adriel Heisey.
In addition, Kristin collaborated with James Holmlund, president of Western Mapping Company in Tucson, Arizona, to develop an animation based on Western Mapping's 3-D laser scan of Crow Canyon’s test excavation in Kiva 107 at Goodman Point Pueblo. This 3-D animation provides an extremely detailed look at the architecture and stratigraphy exposed in this structure—all from the perspective of the excavator standing in the test pit.
