Pueblo History and Lifestyles
School Field Trip

Grades 4–12

Pueblo Indians have a rich history that extends back thousands of years and continues to the present day—with more than 30 Pueblo communities still thriving in Arizona and New Mexico!

On this field trip, your students will learn about the different periods in Pueblo Indian history by examining artifacts and other archaeological clues and then using observation and inference to construct a cultural chronology.

Students also have the opportunity to personally "experience" the past at one or both of our learning centers: the Pithouse Learning Center, which is a full-scale replica of a seventh-century earthen house, and the Pueblo Learning Center, which re-creates a twelfth-century masonry house.

Morning activity: Windows or Inquiries Into the Past (depending on grade level)

Afternoon activity: Basketmaker and/or Pueblo Lifestyles

Plan to arrive on campus between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. and to depart late afternoon (exact times dependent on your transportation schedule). Students and chaperons should bring sack lunches.

Tuition

$45 per student; no charge for chaperons

Tuition rate based on minimum of 10 students. Groups with fewer than 10 students will be charged for the minimum of 10. Scholarships available for local and American Indian schools; please call the registrar.
