What to Expect

Travel

Most road travel will be in air-conditioned microbuses, but on game drives we will ride in four-wheel-drive, sometimes open, vehicles, occasionally on rough roads. This tour does not involve strenuous activity, but it does include short hikes of moderate difficulty and standing for an hour at a time at sites.

Accommodations

All nights, except for the night at Ngepi Camp, are in hotels or lodges of at least first-class quality; several are luxury lodges. Ngepi Camp is a more rustic eco-camp, where you stay in bush huts or tree houses (both with private baths). Shared accommodations are based on double occupancy. Single accommodations are available for an additional fee of $2,175.

Weather

July is winter in Namibia, and the conditions are usually pleasant. Temperatures vary somewhat among the coastal plains, the central region, the desert, and (if taking the post-trip extension) the Okavango Delta, but daytime temperatures average in the low 70s, nighttime temperatures in the low 50s (possibly cooler nighttime temperatures in some areas).
