Katherine Carhart Fellowship

The Katherine Carhart Fellowship is an endowed fund established by Thomas Carhart in memory of his wife, Katherine, who was an avid supporter of Crow Canyon during the early growth years in the 1980s. The fund supports the internship of outstanding university students with research interests in Southwestern archaeology. Students spend 10 weeks on Crow Canyon’s campus as either field or laboratory interns and work closely with the professional archaeological staff, contributing to the Center’s long-term research in the Mesa Verde region.

Recipients of the Carhart fellowship are selected annually from the pool of seasonal field and laboratory interns on the basis of performance. The fellowship is used to partly subsidize the food, housing, and stipend expenses related to the internship program. Although there is no additional cash reward to recipients, the fellowship recognizes exemplary performance and may be used to enhance a student’s list of professional accomplishments.
