Celebrating 30 Years of Research and Education

We've Come a Long Way!

New lodge construction.
Crow Canyon's lodge was constructed in the fall and winter of 1982–83.

If you had visited the Crow Canyon campus 30 years ago, you would have found a brand new lodge (smaller than today's), a cluster of ramshackle trailers, several teepees, and a group of dedicated archaeologists and educators with a dream: to develop an internationally renowned archaeological research and education institution.

We’ve come a long way! Today, Crow Canyon is recognized worldwide for its contributions to Southwest archaeology and for its quality education programs. Thanks to everyone who has attended a Crow Canyon program, made a charitable gift, or established an endowment at the Center, every year we’re educating thousands of K–12 students and adult lifelong learners, making great strides in archaeological research in the Southwest, and collaborating with American Indians on the design of our programs and on projects that address their interests.

This year, we’re planning a special talk on Crow Canyon history by Dr. Bill Lipe, Crow Canyon director of research from 1984 to 1993 and a current member of the Center's Board of Trustees. The lecture will be part of the 2013 Four Corners Lecture Series, a series organized by a consortium of Four Corners area organizations. Stay tuned for details.
