2012

  • A June 11, 2012, Durango Herald article entitled "PBS Aims at Crow Canyon" covered the filming of a Time Team America episode at Crow Canyon.
  • The June 6, 2012, issue of the Cortez Journal featured the filming of a Time Team America episode in its article "PBS Filming TV Series at Dig Site Near Crow Canyon."
  • A January 16, 2012, Quincy Herald-Whig article entitled "Hannibal Middle School Gifted Program Offers 'Ultimate Field Trip' to Colorado Archaeological Dig" highlighted the Hannibal, Missouri, school group that has come to Crow Canyon for 25 years.

  • Hopi farmers team up with Crow Canyon's Mark Varien in presentation that examines Pueblo farming from traditional and archaeological perspectives. Cortez Journal, March 24
  • A new State Historical Fund grant will fund research and education projects related to Crow Canyon's excavations at Albert Porter Pueblo and the Goodman Point Unit. Cortez Journal, February 28.

2008

  • National Trust for Historic Preservation recognizes Crow Canyon's efforts to study, preserve, and interpret the past. Cortez Journal, November 4.
  • Ancient pueblos, starry skies, and Dutch-oven birthday cake: Marjorie Kerr reflects on "Backcountry Archaeology in Northeastern Arizona: Hiking in the Shadow of Navajo Mountain." Fullerton Observer, Mid-October 2008.
  • In the third year of the Pueblo Farming Project, Crow Canyon collaborates with Pueblo farmers to plant traditional gardens on campus. Indian Country Today, May 12, 2008.
  • Vice President of Programs Mark Varien and Senior Research Archaeologist Kristin Kuckleman contributed to a major effort led by Washington State University professor Tim Kohler to examine the depopulation of the Four Corners region using computer simulation techniques. 2007

  • In an interview by the Durango Herald, Senior Research Archaeologist Kristin Kuckelman discusses the impact of climate change on the people of Sand Canyon Pueblo. Durango Herald, December 9.
  • Dr. Donny George Youhkanna, former director of the Iraq National Museum of Baghdad, described the loss of national archaeological treasures in the first lecture of the 2007–2008 Distinguished Lecturers series. Cortez Journal, November 13
  • As part of its coverage of issues related to current global warming, National Public Radio interviewed Senior Research Archaeologist Kristin Kuckelman about her research into ancient climate and the Pueblo depopulation of the Mesa Verde region. Read the accompanying story.
  • Crow Canyon's history and mission are the subject of a news feature in the June 2007 issue of Durango Magazine.
  • More than 100 participants attended Crow Canyon's Big MACC gathering for area archaeologists. Cortez Journal, March 3

  • In an interview on the wwnnradio.com show "Boomer Time and Senior Life," Stephanie Ramsey, Crow Canyon's director of marketing, talked about the Center's travel and archaeology adventure programs. The program aired February 3.
  • A former High School Field School student and volunteer artist describes her Crow Canyon experiences in the February issue of Teen Ink.
  • Recently retired educator Lew Matis reflects on 20 years at Crow Canyon; will continue to teach part-time. Cortez Journal, January 27
