| HIGH SCHOOL FIELD SCHOOL |
Crow Canyon is a wonderful archaeological center located in Cortez in southwestern Colorado. One of Crow Canyon's greatest programs is the High School Field School (HSFS). This program is a three week experience that gives you a foundation in archaeology, research, prehistoric culture, and the beauty of the Four Corners area. We dig, we learn, and occasionally we sing out loud. High School Field School is a great way to make new friends while following your dreams in archaeology. On the left we have highlighted some of the important activities that we participated in during the 2001 High School Field School. These include Livin' at the Crow (campus life), Fun in the Sun (fieldwork), Brain Bustin' (lab work), Learning Ancient Lifestyles (Ancestral Puebloan lifestyles), Outings (field trips), and See Our Smiling Faces (photo album). People come to Crow Canyon for High School Field School from all over the United States. Students ranging from ages 1417 come together here, unified by their common interest in archaeology and anthropology. People of different ethnic, religious, educational, and economic backgrounds bond into a well-molded group and form lasting friendships. In 2001, students came from California, New Jersey, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Massachussets, Illinois, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, New York, and of course Colorado. For more background information on the ancestral Pueblo Indians, go to the Chronology or the Glossary. |
